The Orson Indie 1 tent is the definitive ultralight 1 person tent, engineered for committed independent adventurers across New Zealand who demand reliable, low-weight performance. With an astonishingly low trail weight of just 1050g (1.05 kg), this shelter is built for minimalist travel. It packs down to a compact 33cm x 12cm, making it an ideal choice for TA walkers, solo hikers, trampers, hunters, and bikepackers carrying their own gear over long distances.

The sturdy pyramid tent design is proven to perform exceptionally well in all New Zealand weather conditions. The latest 2023 version features:

• Fly: High-quality, lightweight yet durable 20D Ripstop Silnylon with a PU4000mm underside coating and taped seams, ensuring it is fully waterproof.

• Floor: A more robust 40D Ripstop nylon floor with a superior PU8000mm waterproof rating, built to handle most ground conditions easily. (A separate ground sheet is also available for purchase for added protection).

Designed to keep weight minimal, the Indie 1 does not include a main pole, as it is fully compatible with a standard hiking or tramping pole. We also offer optional accessories for purchase: a 115cm alu pole (165g) or an even lighter 115cm carbon fibre pole (77g).

Pitching is easy: keep the inner hooked up to the fly for quick, fuss-free setup that’s ideal for keeping the inner dry in the rain. The multi-pitch options allow ultimate adaptability: use it as a fly only, inner only, or as a double-wall tent.

Easy entry and exit are guaranteed via the 3-zip inverted ‘T’ inner door, making it simpler to access gear stowed in the vestibule from either the left or right side.
